Peggy Case, 53 was driving along U.S. 23 in the Ivel community of Floyd County when she lost control of the vehicle, over-compensated and crossed the median. She was then struck by an oncoming vehicle that was driven by Carl Ray Johnson, of Kite, KY.
Peggy Case and her 16-year-old passenger were pronounced deceased at the scene by Floyd County coroner, Greg Nelson.
Johnson and two passengers in his vehicle were transported to Pikeville Medical Center for their injuries.
The accident remains under investigation by KSP Trooper Jonathan Dixon. Trooper Dixon was assisted on scene by KSP Trooper David Watkins, Sgt. Chris Hollon and Betsy Layne Fire Department.
