Posted: Updated:

UPDATE:

Christy Jarrell, 29, was arrested at the 7-11 in Rand, W.Va.  She is currently being held by the Quincy Detachment of the State Police.

Jarrell was picked up on the petit larceny warrant issued for a gun theft that occurred on Charleston's west side overnight.

Police did not find the gun when they arrested Jarrell.

UPDATE:

According to police, the incident began when a woman called the school to report that her sister had a gun and was on her way to the school.

The woman who was supposedly on her way to the school is Christy Jarrell, 29.  Jarrell was released from jail yesterday on an unrelated charge of shoplifting.

Police have issued a warrant for Jarrell's arrest, but not for the incident at Cedar Groove Community School.  The warrant is for petit larceny.  Jarrell is accused of stealing a firearm from an apartment building on Charleston's west side.

Police do not believe, at this moment, that Jarrell had any intention of going to the school or causing harm to any children.
