Olive Hill, Kentucky has a new mayor. City council members voted Kenny Fankell to the position on Tuesday evening.

Danny Sparks resigned as mayor after he was arrested for selling marijuana to an undercover officer near a school.

Olive Hill residents said Tuesday, they hope Fankell can do a better job than Sparks. "I hope that he will do us all a lot better job. I mean take care of business. We need the place cleaned up. We need our law enforcement to be here when we need them. I mean, and I hope the mayor will help us do that," said Sharon Binion, an Olive Hill resident.

"The first thing I have to do is meet with my heads of departments. We're getting ready to have new members of council come on the first of the year and we need to sit down and look at our budget, its very tight,  just be able to work together." Mayor Fankell stated.

He was sworn in immediately following the vote.
