A store that had become known as a center for crime in Huntington is no more.
During a ceremony today, U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin and Police Chief Skip Holbrook presided over the demolition of the All-In-One Convenience Store located on the corner of 20th Street and 9th Avenue, in the city's Fairfield District.
The location became a problem in recent years, with police answering thousands of calls for shootings, drugs and prostitution over the past two years.
City Council voted earlier this year to name the property a 'nuisance', allowing it to take control of the location under the state's 'Home Rule' initiative.
U.S. Attorney, Booth Goodwin, also led an investigation into food stamp fraud, involving the owner, which ended up with the owner paying heavy fines and selling the property to the city.
City officials cannot yet say what they plan to do with the property; only to say that they plan to build something that will benefit the whole community.
