One arrested, one on the run after burglary in Scioto County

Scioto County Sheriff's Department received a call on Dec. 4 at 2:30 p.m. stating that two men were breaking into a home on 3572 Street Rt. 140 in Wheelersburg, OH.

The deputy responding to the scene found a gray vehicle in the driveway with a male subject in the driver's seat. A second male took off on foot from the residence.

Deputies found some of the stolen property inside the suspect's car.

During an investigation detectives identified the other male subject as Daniel Caldwell, 45, of Portsmouth, OH. Detectives along with Portsmouth Municipal Court Probation Officer have made several attempts to locate Caldwell who is currently on the run.

The suspect in the car, Danny Shepherd, 42, of Sciotoville, OH was arrested. Shepherd has been charged with one count of burglary, a felony of the 2nd degree.

Shepherd is being held on a $50,000 bond and will appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Dec. 13.

According to the Sheriff's Department, more charges could be presented to the Scioto County Grand Jury at a later date.
