Zimbabwe men accept plea deal in Ohio fraud case

Two Zimbabwe men are expected to accept plea deals in an Ohio-based tax fraud case that prosecutors said netted them and five others up to $10 million.

Court records filed Thursday show that Kudzaishe Bungu and Tawanda Marimbire have reached agreements with prosecutors.

Bungu has a December 17 hearing to finalize the agreement. Marimbire's hearing is January 10.

Under his deal, Bungu would face up to 10 years in prison while other charges are dropped in exchange for his cooperation. He had faced up to 60 years in prison.

Details of Marimbire's agreement have not been released.

Authorities said seven men with Zimbabwe ties ran a tax preparation business in Cincinnati, and used identities of at least 658 people to file false returns, collecting between $2.4 million and $10 million.
