A retired West Virginia employee thought he was throwing away junk mail, but what he was actually throwing away was more than $24,000 in unpaid wages.
The State Treasurer made everything right on Friday, presenting Clarksburg resident Bill Ramsey a check for $24,803. It was money Ramsey had earned but somehow had not claimed.
Ramsey is just one of hundreds of people across the state who have unclaimed
funds according to the Treasurer's office.
Ramsey plans to spend most of the money on his grandchildren. "The only thing that is unclear is how much extra I want to spend on my grandkids, a little extra Christmas for them this year," said Ramsey.
