A string of suspicious fires from May of 2011 to June of 2012 had neighbors in Summersville concerned for their property and for their safety.
Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were in Charleston on Friday to talk about ways to help Kanawha County with expenses from Superstorm Sandy.
Officials from fire departments, health departments, and some non profit organizations are eligible to file with FEMA. Clearing of debris in right of ways, running of generators, and overtime are some of the things that can be reimbursed.
Kanawha County spent $600,000 as a result of the early winter storm. "Our Metro Communications had to run their big generator for 31 hours because of power issues. A lot of those expenses will be recouped, so it is less the tax payers in Kanawha County will have to pay," said CW Sigman from Kanawha County Homeland Security.
The county is urging people who wave suffered damages to contact the Kanawha County Planning Department at 304-357-0570.
