Each year thousands of animals are killed in animal shelters in West Virginia and surrounding states.
Each year thousands of animals are killed in animal shelters in West Virginia and surrounding states.
A dozen teams from all across West Virginia traveled to Dupont Middle School to compete in a wrestling tournament Sunday.
In total 350 kids were involved in the competition.
Their family members crowded into the stands to cheer them on.
Organizers say the activity helps to build character.
"It is teaching the kids good sportsmanship and how to win and how to lose," said Daren Gilfilen, with the Mountain State Junior Wrestling League. "Everything that they learn in wrestling they can take through their whole life."@
The league has eleven of these types of competitions throughout the year. Their championship tournament is set for early 2013.
