Charleston mayor Danny Jones and the Charleston Convention and Visitors Bureau unveiled their economic development strategy Monday.

The strategy belongs to a city plan to attract more tourism, businesses, and jobs in the capital city.

Officials said the CVB has successfully generated millions of dollars and thousands of jobs from tourism.

They asked everyone to take part in identifying persons or groups involved in professional organizations in order to promote Charleston as a destination spot for national events.

Charleston has been chosen to host the 2014 National Marine Corps Convention and the Enlisted Association of the National Guard in 2017. Both events are expected to have an economic impact of $3.1 million for the city.
