Matt Shiflett recently was appointed assistant director of admission/transfer coordinator for Davis & Elkins College.
Shiflett assists students from southeastern West Virginia and parts of Virginia in the admission process. In addition, he guides all transfer students as well as all nursing applicants and homeschooled students who apply to the college.
Shiflett also is the D&E Admission Datatel specialist and has worked with the data management system since it was implemented at D&E in 2003.
Shiflett earned a bachelor of arts in management from D&E in 1996 and began working as an admissions counselor at the college that summer. He worked for D&E admission until 2003 serving in various positions.
From 2003 to 2011, he worked in admissions and recruitment at Alderson-Broaddus College, and recently worked as the director of financial aid at A-B.
Shiflett earned a master of science degree in software engineering from West Virginia University in 2005. He returned to D&E this fall.
Shiflett was named the West Virginia Admissions Counselor of the Year by the Potomac and Chesapeake Admissions Counselor Association in 2005, served as West Virginia ACT Counsel representative from 2005 to 2007, and was president of the West Virginia Association of Collegiate Registrars in 2005.
