Elizabeth S. Power was hired as Of Counsel at Steptoe & Johnson. She joined the firm's office in Charleston and will focus her practice in the area of energy law.
Power comes to Steptoe & Johnson after serving nearly five years as the assistant general counsel for Patriot Coal Corp. While at Patriot Coal, she was responsible for the company's legal department in West Virginia.
Prior to her time at Patriot Coal, Power was senior counsel for Peabody Holding Co., where she focused her work on contracts, coal leases, contract mining agreements and amendments, as well as managing civil litigation.
Power earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma and her law degree from the West Virginia University College of Law. She is a recipient of the Thomas N. Chambers Award in Taxation from the WVU College of Law.
