SISSONVILLE, West Virginia -

Work continued Sunday at the site of a natural gas explosion in Sissonville.

Crews with Columbia Gas have been on the scene for days working to make repairs. Heavy equipment helped to pile charred trees. Straw had also been placed over some of the ground where the grass was burned. Boards have been placed over the windows of at least one nearby home and a large tent has been placed near the blast site for work crews.

Route 21 is still open but signs alert passing motorists of a reduced speed limit while work is ongoing.

Some homeowners whose homes were damaged but not destroyed were on the scene Sunday, working to pick up the mess left behind by the fire.
