The deadline to apply for federal individual assistance from the June derecho is December 19.
Governor Earl Ray Tomblin has reminded people time is running out to apply.
According to a news release, "Qualified West Virginians may receive help with rental assistance, home repairs, medical, funeral or dental expenses, loss of personal property, or other disaster-related expenses and needs."
"This federal help can alleviate the stress of rebuilding and recovering from the derecho for many of our families. I encourage those who were impacted-even slightly-to register for assistance before the deadline," Tomblin said in the release. "I'm grateful to FEMA for providing this much needed help to our individuals, seniors and families."
Twenty counties are eligible to register including Boone, Cabell, Clay, Fayette, Greenbrier, Jackson, Kanawha, Lincoln, Mason, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Monroe, Nicholas, Pocahontas, Raleigh, Roane, Tyler, Webster and Wood counties.
