As many as one in five American children under the age of 17 has a diagnosable mental disorder in a given year, according to a new federal report.
You may have noticed a few new police cars traveling the streets of Charleston, soon there will be more.
Charleston City Council members approved the purchase of 12 new police cruisers on Monday evening.
The old vehicles will be replaced with the Ford Interceptor and will have the newest technology according to city officials. The cost of the new cruisers will be a little more than $300,000.
The city is also purchasing 11 other vehicles for city use.
Meanwhile Charleston's East End could be seeing a new community park soon. Council members voted Monday evening to pass a resolution to build a park behind Laidley Field. It would be located across the railroad tracks.
McClanahan Construction will build the park at a cost of a half a million dollars. Construction is set to begin in the Spring.
