A West Virginia manufacturer is planning to expand its facilities in Kanawha County.
The announcement came Tuesday from NGK Sparkplugs. The move is also expected to create 34 jobs by the end of next year according to the company.
NGK Sparkplugs officials said Tuesday that the company plans to add an 11,000-square-foot facility to its Sissonville campus. "Rather than have this product made in Japan and imported, we wanted to bring it here. And it really gives us a very good long term strategic position relative to our customers demands," said Bob Pepper from NGK Sparkplugs.
The expansion comes as the company plans to begin producing M12 sparkplugs and ZFAS oxygen sensors for vehicles. Those products essentially will help vehicles run better and have better fuel efficiency.
Construction is expected to begin in February and be completed by September. The assembly line should be up and running by the end of 2013.
