The University of Charleston School of Pharmacy has been awarded a $10,000 Walgreens Diversity Scholarship, according to a news release.
Walgreens Pharmacy Supervisor Debra Harris presented the check to Dean Michelle Easton on Monday.
"We sincerely thank Dr. Harris and everyone at Walgreens for their support.," Dr. Easton said in the release. "The Walgreens Diversity Scholarships do more than assist deserving student pharmacists finance their education. The recognition of the students and their efforts to promote diversity and inclusion helps expand their knowledge of themselves and the population they will serve. Additionally, the Walgreens monies provide us with important funds to support our efforts to create pipelines to increase diversity among future pharmacists."
The money will "help develop, implement and support programs that will have a positive impact and aspire to promote diversity".
