In Wednesday night's game vs. Savannah State, fans might've noticed that Marshall Head Coach Tom Herrion was sporting a green blazer.

At you first, everyone assumed Herrion was wearing the green attire because the Thundering Herd's main color is green.

But after the game he told the media that wasn't the reason why he was wearing it.

In fact, it was to honor the victims in the deadly shooting in Newtown, Connecticut on December 15th.

This tragedy hits close to home for the Marshall coach.

As a young coach in New England, Herrion drove through Newtown, about hundreds times for recruiting trips.
