A local VFW provided a place for veterans to eat on Christmas.
VFW Post 1064 held a Christmas dinner for veterans and their families Tuesday.
Some even brought their children and grandchildren to eat at the VFW Hall in Huntington.
They served a "traditional" dinner with ham and all the fixings.
Scottie King, the post adjutant, told 13NEWS we should honor war veterans and go the "extra mile" for them by holding events, such as this Christmas dinner.
"With the economy and everything, there's a lot of our senior veterans who live alone, don't have family members around, so we don't want to see them sit at home on Christmas Day, of all days," said Scottie King.
VFW also invited veterans' widows.
This is the first year this post has staged an event like this on Christmas, and they hope to make it a tradition in Huntington.
