A large donation has landed a Huntington charity a spot in the world record books.

Thanks to a donation from ViSalus, the Huntington Area Food Bank is now part of the Guinness Book of World Records for the world's largest donation of baked goods. ViSalus donated 52,000 pounds of its all natural "mini-meal" Nutra-Cookies in September. Since then the Food Bank has worked to hand out the 420,000 individually wrapped cookies.

Each cookie contains nine grams of protein, a full serving of fiber, calcium and fruit and vegetable nutrients.

"We are incredibly proud of our new world record, but more importantly that we were able to help those who need it most by providing them with healthy alternative snacks," said ViSalus co-founder and CEO Ryan Blair.

In 2012 the Food Bank handed out more than 4.7 million pounds of food to nearly 100,000 food insecure people living in West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio. The Food Bank works year round to provide meals to those most in need and we need the communities help to continue in our mission.

The Huntington Area Food Bank is a 501 (c) 3 Non-Profit organization affiliated with Feeding America, the largest hunger relief agency in the United States. We service 260 agencies in Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia.
