UPDATE 10PM
2013 looks to begin with a mix of rain and snow and possible slick roads in the wee hours of New Years Day.
The Stormtracker Meteorologists say a fast moving disturbance will kick off rain and snow south of Interstate 64 and some light snow north of Interstate 64 during the early hours of Tuesday.
"This is not a lot of snow, maybe an inch or two in a few grassy areas, but there is a window where roads could be real slick early in the day, so we want folks to treat anything that looks wet as if it were icy. No sense in not being careful," said chief meteorologist Spencer Adkins.
Current weather models show many areas with no accumulation as daytime temperatures should be well above the freezing mark but there could be as much as two inches of accumulation on grassy surfaces on hilltops generally north and east of Charleston.
We are looking at another day of rain and snow mix. Areas of southern Ohio are already seeing the mixture as it moves in. Be careful tonight because as temperatures drop the mixture will begin to freeze.
Tuesday will see the freeze turn back into a mixture of snow and rain with a high in the upper 30s. Higher elevations could see two to four inches although much isn't expected to stick.
On Wednesday, we are looking at dry weather with temperatures in the high 30s during the day and dropping into the low 20s during the night.
