A $500 fine and up to a year in jail, that's the penalty that 14-year-old Jared Marcum, who was arrested after refusing to change his NRA shirt, could face, now that a judge has allowed the prosecution to move forward with it's obstructing an officer charge against him.
CHARLESTON, West Virginia -
The Kanawha County Public Library is giving parents a little more incentive to read aloud to their children.
The Read Aloud Club wants parents to read to their kids during the school year. The group says when parents participate it helps to encourage families to spend quality time together and helps to promote lifelong literacy.
All parents have to do is visit their local library branch. They can pick up a game sheet and the program guidelines.
Families then have until March 31, 2013 to read up to 18 books.
There are some rewards as well for those who participate and complete the program. You can win as many as three free books and attend a celebration party in April.
