A $500 fine and up to a year in jail, that's the penalty that 14-year-old Jared Marcum, who was arrested after refusing to change his NRA shirt, could face, now that a judge has allowed the prosecution to move forward with it's obstructing an officer charge against him.
The Kanawha-Charleston Animal Shelter will reopen for adoptions on Thursday, January 3. The shelter had been closed for a distemper outbreak.
Donna Clark is the shelter's director. She said her staff has been working hard the past two days to get the shelter reopened.
"We've scrubbed everything down with bleach at least two or three times," said Clark.
The shelter has been taking in cats for a couple of days, but will also have at least three dogs available to be adopted when it opens Thursday at noon. The Kanawha-Charleston Animal Shelter will be open until about 6 p.m.
