UPDATE: Man dies from gun shot wounds

UPDATE

Sergeant Losh and Trooper Hash from West Virginia State Police in Huntington tell 13 News that Christopher Carter who was shot last night died from his injuries.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

Sergeant R.D. Perry with the West Virginia State Police said that the victim in Monday night's shooting was shot once in the chest. The Cabell County Sheriff had earlier reported that the victim had been hit multiple times.

The man was seen coming out of the back of an apartment. Neighbors said they could hear him screaming for help. The victim has been taken to St. Mary's Medical Center to be treated for "life-threatening" injuries, according to authorities.

Police have not said any more about what may have led to the shooting, the circumstances surrounding the incident, or whether any arrests have been made.

Cabell County Sheriff Tom McComas has confirmed that a man has been shot multiple times during an incident in the Pea Ridge area tonight.

The victim has been taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the Sheriff McComas.

Police are at the scene of a shooting in Cabell County. Dispatchers have confirmed that one person has been shot.

It happened in the 7000 block of Beech Drive at about 8:45 p.m. according to dispatchers. Beech Drive is the Barboursville area.

13News has a crew on the way to the scene.
