CHARLESTON, WV -

The Charleston Area Alliance is looking for applicants to the first SAGE, or Sustainable Agriculture Entrepreneurs.

SAGE is an economic development initiative from the Alliance aimed at teaching people how to grow food and how to use it as an economic opportunity.

Participants will take part in 12 agriculture courses and six entrepreneur courses. The year-long curriculum will conclude with an agriculture business license.

The program costs $100 to participate, but $50 of that will be reinvested into the graduate's business once that person graduates.

Applications to the course are due Jan. 9. Agriculture classes will take place at the SAGE micro-farm at 617 Ohio St. on the Westside of Charleston, and entrepreneur classes will take place at the Charleston Area Alliance offices on Smith Street in Charleston.

For details, contact Cullen Naumoff at 304-340-4253.
