Popular fly fishing show to be filmed in WV

It's the year of reality television in West Virginia and the extra exposure could mean some extra money flowing through the state.

'Fly Rod Chronicles' is one show that is still under production but will be filmed throughout the state.

The West Virginia Department of Commerce said it has partnered with the show, which will feature various streams, rivers, or lakes in West Virginia.

"Under the arrangement, they will film over half the shows in West Virginia," said Keith Burdette, West Virginia Secretary of Commerce.

Host Curtis Fleming is a West Virginia native who travels the world to find the best fly fishing around.

Burdette said this partnership could bring in big bucks to the fishing havens that Fleming visits.

"It's a great opportunity to pair a guy who loves West Virginia with fabulous locations across the state and the opportunity to catch some real trophy fish and to do it in a way to highlight West Virginia in its very best," Burdette said.

'Buckwild' is another reality TV show that will premier Thursday night.

It profiles nine young adults and their crazy antics in and around Kanawha County.

Some people are concerned Buckwild won't show West Virginia in a positive light.

Alisa Bailey, President and CEO of the Charleston CVB, said she hopes people do not take the show seriously.

"We do think that people are smart enough to realize this is just sensationalized and that's not who we really are," she said.

Much of the show was filmed in Sissonville earlier this year.

Some neighbors said they still aren't sure how they feel about Buckwild

Some people want to see the first episode before they make their minds up about it.

"I don't know where the kids come from but I'm interested in seeing where they came from," said Teresa Miller.

'Diggers' is another show that will debut at the end of the month. This show will revisit the Hatfield-McCoy feud.
