CHARLESTON, West Virginia -

Putnam County Family Court Judge William Watkins is taking a medical leave of absence.

According to a letter sent to Supreme Court Justices, Watkins was ordered to take a medical leave from his doctor.

"Due to my deteriorating health, my doctor has ordered me to take medical leave

immediately," reads the letter.

Justice Brent Benjamin appointed former Family Court Judge Deloris J. Nibert as a temporary replacement.
