    Alpha Natural Resources announced July 31 that 11 affiliated coal mines and other facilities in West Virginia could be idled by mid-October, potentially causing 1,100 to be laid off.

Poca firefighters said one of their own was transported to an area hospital after suffering an asthmatic attack following a blaze in Nitro. 

According to firefighters, the cause of the fire is still undetermined.  It could be days before the cause is determined.

The Frontier building that caught fire was used for training purposes and was last used around a month ago.

Firefighters say Frontier is also sending in their own investigators.

It has been confirmed that the fire was at the Frontier building. All of the damaged vehicles belong to Frontier.

Eight of the numerous vehicles parked near the burning office building have been damaged. One vehicle has been completely destroyed.

Multiple emergency crews battled a fully involved structure fire at Rock Branch Industrial Park, in Nitro. It began in the early afternoon on Saturday. 

The fire started in an office building, but no one was inside. According to the Poca Fire Department, crews had to break the locks in order to access the fire.

Currently, the cause of the fire is unknown.
