Courthouse elevator gets renovations in Cabell county

Posted: Updated:

Folks at the Cabell county courthouse will have to use the stairs for the next several weeks, due to renovations on the old elevator.

County manager Chris Tatum says the elevator was in dire need of repairs and will be out of service for four to six weeks as contractors give it an overhaul.

The repairs will cost over $180,000 dollars and comes from county money that was budget in for the job.

Those with disabilities are free to use the handicap-accessible basement where security will help assess their needs and direct them to the right room to be helped with their needs.

Anyone who has to do court business can use the elevator in the old jail next door to get to the second floor.

Tatum says January was picked for the repairs because business is usually slower that month of the year.
