A man was shot along Route 219 in Lewisburg, Greenbrier County on Monday evening.
The situation reportedly started out as a routine traffic stop.
West Virginia State Police Troopers and members of the Lewisburg Police Department were at the scene until at least 7 p.m. at the corner of N. Jefferson Street and Coleman Drive.
Some witnesses reported seeing a body at the scene. No details were released regarding the condition of the shooting victim, a name or other information about the incident.
Route 219 was closed, and then turned into a one-lane road for part of the evening.
A news conference with the West Virginia State Police is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday.
