Mountaineer Military Museum of Weston will be closed during the months of January and February as it is undergoing major construction of additional displays in their newly acquired expansion.

Owners Ron and Barb McVaney said they traditionally experiences a slow-down in tourism during the winter months, so this will be the ideal time to allow the volunteers ample space to work.

Construction of the additional display area is being done by volunteers in various communities in the North Central West Virginia, with the majority of those volunteers being veterans of various eras, according to Barb McVaney.  These veterans expressed an interest in "… being a part of this wonderful tribute to those who have served and sacrificed for our country.  (we) … appreciate the work of the McVaney's at the Mountaineer Military Museum, and their dedication to providing a place of honor and remembrance."

An announcement will be made regarding the re-opening of the museum.
