Several history-related events are scheduled this winter at West Virginia state parks.

Lore and Tracking Weekend is set Jan. 18-20 at Twin Falls Resort State Park in Wyoming County. This is a history and tracking event that is led by experienced instructors. Participants will learn how to track animals and the signs to look for. Contact 304-294-4000 for details.

"Life and Adventures of Sam Pringle" is planned Jan. 19 at Hawks Nest State Park in Fayette County.

The setting for the story starts in 1761, at the tail end of the French and Indian War, when John and Samuel Pringle deserted from the English army at Fort Pitt. The two brothers made their way to a remote region of Western Virginia along what is now the Buckhannon River where they lived in a hollow sycamore tree for three years. Call 304-658-5212, for information.

An 18th Century Firearms and Accoutrements Show is planned Feb. 22-24 at Prickett's Fort State Park in Marion County.

Organizers state it's a fun and educational buying experience from some of the best craftsmen in West Virginia and surrounding states. There will be something or the 18th century re-enactor or the collector.
For details, call 304-363-3030.

Historic arts workshops are scheduled the weekend of March 16-17 at Prickett's Fort, near Fairmont.

Activities include making a gardeners/weavers basket, spinning textiles and tatting, or the art of making lace. Call 304-363-3030 for information.
