It started on Thursday afternoon during a thunderstorm in Alum Creek.
St. Timothy's in-the-Valley Episcopal Church invites the public to join the congregation in celebrating the beginnings of the church.
The event starts Sunday, January 20 at the church located at 3434 Teays Valley Road in Hurricane.
Members say it will be a time to remember, celebrate, and give thanks to those who started the church 50 years ago.
A festive coffee hour will begin the day at 9:30 a.m. in the Welcome Center.
Worship in circa 1963 fashion follows at 10:30 a.m. during which an accounting of the beginnings and early years will be shared.
Lunch will be served following the ceremony with significant recognitions and special music in the sanctuary.
Pastor Cheryl Winter and the entire congregation say they welcome the public with open arms and hearts.
