In a presentation to the press, Cabell County Schools administrators presented an alternative to the traditional school calendar.

They're looking into a "balanced" school schedule.

That means there would be the same number of school days (180), but the year would be split up into quarters.

Each quarter would last 45 days, with three intercession breaks and one thirty-day summer vacation.

The next plan of action for administrators is to hold a series of public meetings, before meeting with the Board of Education to submit an official proposal.

The proposed schedule change would affect all Cabell County schools.

The earliest, the balanced school schedule could go into effect is the fall of 2014.

Here is a list of times and locations for upcoming meetings.
