A Detroit man was sentenced to two years and three months in federal prison for heroin possession, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin.

Gerald L. Height, 37 of Detroit, previously pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute heroin last year.

Authorities said agents with the Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force saw Height get into a car at the Greyhound bus station in Huntington in March 2012.

Officers performed a traffic stop on the vehicle and found drugs inside, authorities said.

Officers said they found 62 bags of heroin.

The Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force, the Huntington Police Department and the Barboursville Police Department conducted the investigation.
