An arrest has been made in connection with an armed robbery at the 7-11 in Rand.
Gerald Maxwell turned himself over to police while they were lifting fingerprints from the store after the robbery.
Investigators say Maxwell waited for customers to leave, and then demanded cash from the store clerk at gunpoint. He fled with an unknown amount of cash.
While sheriff's department deputies were investigating, Maxwell was waiting in the parking lot. According to a statement from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department, Maxwell said, "I saw a couple of you looking for me and you can't hide from the boys in blue."
Maxwell remains at South Central Regional Jail on $25,000 bond.
