James H. Covington has been named head of Bayer CropScience's Institute Industrial Park. Covington begins his new role on Feb. 1, taking over from Steven Hedrick. Covington started with Bayer in 1986 and is at present head of health, safety and environment for the company's Kansas City manufacturing operations, the largest Bayer CropScience production site in North America. Covington's previous senior manufacturing leadership roles with Bayer include positions at sites in Pennsylvania, Texas and West Virginia, as well as Canada and Germany. From 2006 to 2008, he served as head of Bayer's New Martinsville Industrial Park. Prior to his current position in Kansas City, Covington headed the health, safety and environment functions at the Institute site for some 15 months starting in 2010. Covington also served as treasurer of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce from 2007–2008. He has a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from Rice University.
