Kentucky State Police in Pikeville received a call Thursday that a section of KY Route 40 had fallen away.

Police say approximately 100 feet of roadway between the near the one mile marker has collapsed.

The Department of Transportation says this section of Route 40 is down to one lane and a traffic signal has been installed.
