The Huntington Area Habitat for Humanity held a dedication celebration on Sunday afternoon to hand over the keys to Steve and Heather Meade and their five children for the 80th home constructed in Cabell County.
It also marks the first home to be dedicated in the Habitat for Humanity's first subdivision.
The Silver Lining House was built in observance of Habitat for Humanity's 25th Anniversary of building homes in West Virginia.
The Meade family put in over seven hundred man hours working on the home, and this house has some added features not found on any homes built before by Habitat for Humanity.
Colin Williams, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Mountain View Solar says,
"This is the first Habitat House in the Huntington area with solar panels on it. And this system is expected to generate about 25% of the electricity that this house will use. So it'll save the homeowners two to three hundred dollars a year on their electric bill."
Ten more homes are slated to be built in the new subdivision, all with solar panels.
