CHARLESTON, West Virginia -
You'll soon see a change in license plates in West Virginia. It's a move that will save the state some money.
The Division of Motor Vehicles says it will switch from embossed plates to plates that are digitally printed with the registration number.
A spokesperson says the new plates are easier to recognize and will cost about $600,000 dollars less to produce.
They're also more environmentally friendly because they don't need to be painted.
Plates are made by West Virginia Correctional Industries at Mount Olive Prison.
