One Kanawha County town is looking to increase its police presence.
The town of Pratt voted to revise the Police Service Fee on Tuesday evening. This would help increase the number of hours Pratt law enforcement officers would patrol the town.
Leaders said they hope the hike increases the number of full-time positions available.
Currently residences pay $9.50 per month. After Tuesday's vote, they could see an increase of $19.
"We're just increasing a fee we already had in place," said Chief Eric Eagle, with the Pratt Police Department. "It's been several years since it's been increased."
Before the town sees a raise, city council must have two readings before the final vote.
