Lincoln county man sentenced to prison on firearm charge

A Lincoln county man will spend the next three years behind bars after being convicted of a firearm charge.
According to U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin, George Wayne Taylor, 56, of Hamlin admitted that  he was seen holding a shotgun at a relative's residence in Alkol back in 2007.
Taylor further admitted stealing metal roofing from the Lincoln County home.
A person had a picture of him in possession of the firearm.
Taylor also admitted firing the shotgun after being photographed.
Four stolen firearms were later recovered by law enforcement officers along with the stolen metal roofing from the defendant's residence in Hamlin, W.Va.
Taylor was previously convicted in March 1997 in a Pike County, KY Court to theft by unlawful taking of $300 or more.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
United States District Judge Thomas E. Johnston imposed his sentence.
