A round of freezing rain is expected in some portions of the WOWK viewing area late Sunday and early Monday.
The National Weather Service has issued a Freezing Rain Advisory from 10 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday for Nicholas and Wood counties in West Virginia and Athens and Washington counties in Ohio.
Generally a tenth of an inch or less of accumulating ice is expected.
StormTracker chief Meteorologist Spencer Adkins says not everyone will see ice on the roads, but drivers still need to play it safe.
"You really need to watch the temperature as some sheltered valleys will have cold air trapped there while some hilltops will be well above freezing. The best advice is to simply drive slow on anything that even looks wet because it could be a glaze of ice," said Adkins. "We also think most of the 13 News viewing area will be a little too warm for ice, but even wet roads can be slick, so plan a few extra minutes and more space between cars on the way to work or school."
Warm air is expected to rapidly move in about the time the Monday morning commute is finishing. High temperatures should rise well into the 50s according to the Stormtracker meteorologists.
"The biggest problem will be in the morning and we just want people to drive safely so everyone gets where they want to be," added Adkins.
