A home invasion is under investigation in the Hilltop area of Fayette County. Dispatchers said that a call came in at 12:06 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29.

Deputies arrived to the home at 1078 Prudence Road where they found the 58-year-old victim had what are being called serious injuries to the head. That person was taken to Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill. His condition is not known at this time.

Deputies said the investigation showed the victim was apparently asleep when two men forced their way into the house by knocking out a window. The suspects then attacked the homeowner. He was apparently beat with an electric heater the suspects found inside of the home. Both suspects were wearing masks and right now there is no description of the suspects available.

"We do not have a lot of information to go on at this point," said Sheriff Steve Kessler. "We have one of our tracking K-9s on scene and Deputies are saturating the area in an attempt to locate the perpetrators."

Investigators said the men who broke into the home were apparently looking for drugs, but the only thing stolen from the home was a stainless steel Walther .380 pistol.

Anyone having any information concerning this incident is urged to contact the Fayette County 911 Center at (304) 574-1610 or Crime Stoppers at (304) 255-7867 .
