Kanawha County authorities arrested James Earl Davis, 37, on Monday, Jan. 28. Davis was wanted for failure to appear on a charge of possession of a controlled substance in Belle County, Texas, according to police.
He was taken into custody while leaving work in South Charleston, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office. Davis tried to run, according to the news release, but was captured without incident.
Authorities said they received a tip that Davis was working and living in the South Charleston area, and that he was using the alias of Robderick Detoti Mitchell. When Davis was arrested, officers said they found forged documents reflecting his false identity.
Davis was taken before a Kanawha County magistrate and then transported to the South Central Regional Jail pending his extradition to Texas.
