HUNTINGTON – Want the same kind of cushioned seat Coach Tom Herrion – when he sits
down -- will have for Saturday's Marshall-UCF basketball game?
Want
the chance to meet with Marshall student-athletes from various sports
before you get to your Henderson Center seat for Wednesday night's
Thundering Herd game against
SMU?
You maybe could land both.
The
Big Green Scholarship Foundation that funds MU athletic grants and more
is pushing to surpass 3,000 members for a third straight year –
something that hasn't been
achieved before. The fundraising arm of MU athletics is 26 members shy
of the magic number.
To
help in the effort, the Big Green is offering two courtside tickets for
Saturday's Herd-UCF 2 p.m. tipoff to the winner of a "new membership"
drawing. Those who
join the Big Green by Thursday (Jan. 31) will be entered in the raffle.
A Big Green membership costs as little as $50.
To
assist in the run toward 3,000 members, the Big Green has enlisted MU
student-athletes as pregame greeters at Wednesday's 7 p.m. tipoff
against SMU.
Athletes
will greet fans entering the Henderson Center on Level E for the SMU
game. They will be asking fans to join and thanking current members for
their support.
Current Big Green members can boost the membership drive, too, and get a
bonus. Those who refer a non-member friend for signup will receive two
priority points per referral.
A signup table will be located on Level E prior to Wednesday night's game, or fans can call 304-696-4661 to join and be entered for the courtside seat drawing.
Herd student-athletes scheduled to greet fans are:
Football – Rakeem Cato, Blake Frohnapfel, Eric Frohnapfel, D.J. Hunter;
Men's soccer -- Jahvon Allison, Logan Powell, Jesus Mafouta, Tyler Atwell, Connor
Marino;
Volleyball – Sammie Bane, Sacha Byous-McConnell, Laura Der, Jillian Shemanski, Jaylene
Berrien;
Track & field – Molly Miloscia;
Cross country – Adam Frohnapfel;
Women's golf -- Kristyn Morrone, Caitlyn Morrone, Korakot Simsiriwong, Rachel Thompson.
"Never
before has the Big Green offered our current members an opportunity to
increase their priority point total by simply going out and referring
their friends and
family," said Travis Epling, MU's Assistant Director of Athletic
Development. "This is a wonderful opportunity for our student-athletes
to get out and say thank you to our Big Green Members."
