UPDATE: Wednesday

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Department has arrested a man in connection with a deadly shooting Tuesday night.

Sheriff Jeff Lawless said Rodney DeLawder, 33, has been charged with first degree murder and discharging a firearm into a habitation.

Investigators said DeLawder shot and killed his brother-in-law, John McKnight, 48.

He also beat up the victim's brother, Larry McKnight, who was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries, deputies said.

Deputies said a fight broke out at the men's house off of Route 243 near Coal Grove.

After DeLawder shot and killed John McKnight with a shotgun, and assaulted Larry McKnight, he went to his mother's house, investigators said.

He was taken into custody and is cooperating in the investigation, Lawless said.

Authorities are not releasing what exactly the fight was over, but said alcohol might have played a role.

DeLawder is in the Lawrence County Jail.  He will appear in front of a judge on Friday.
