Huntington city workers are on the job Thursday night monitoring pumping stations along the Ohio river.

Flood wall Department Superintendent Steve Riggs says the station on 13th Street West was activated Thursday afternoon, and four more workers will fire up others stations in different areas at 11 p.m.

He says once the river level goes above 37 feet, the pumps are turned on to prevent river water from entering city sewers.

City workers will be monitoring the rising water throughout the night.
