COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A conservative think tank in Ohio said expanding Medicaid in Ohio would end up costing the state over the long haul.
Gov. John Kasich will announce Monday whether he wants to expand health care coverage for poor Ohioans.
Supporters said it would improve the overall health and bring Ohio more money through sales and health insurance tax revenues.
But the conservative-leaning Buckeye Institute said its doubts the federal government would keep its promise of paying for nearly all of the new Medicaid costs.
In a report released Friday, the group also said there would be substantial administrative costs associated with expanding Medicaid. The report also casts doubts about another study that says Ohio could profit from an increase in tax revenues.
