CSX has donated $25,000 to the West Virginia National Guard Foundation, helping families of guard members in time of need.

The Foundation provides financial support to guard members and their families by providing grants to help homeless guard members, providing lodging for families of hospitalized guard members and helping with other emergencies and needs.

"Our National Guard does great work both at home and abroad, and I truly appreciate CSX for providing the Foundation with financial assistance to help our guards when they need it most," said Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, commander-in-chief of the West Virginia National Guard.

J. Randolph Cheetham, CSX's regional vice president for state relations, said the National Guard always helps residents of the state when disasters strike, so CSX wanted to give back.

"Every time disaster strikes the Mountain State, members of the West Virginia National Guard rush to the aid of their neighbors to provide rescue and relief services for our citizens," Cheetham said. "These brave men and women answer the call to duty with the utmost professionalism and efficiency in a spirit of kindness and caring."

The West Virginia National Guard Foundation is a charitable and educational non-profit organization that aims to encourage the public to appreciate the contributions of the West Virginia National Guard, according to the governor's office.
